However, I talked with the receipent of the gift only to find that not one but both cups had cracked and broken. It is hard to believe that they only survived use for about four (4) weeks. I purchased these cup for a Christmas present and was satisfied with the delivery time. They were used in accordance with instructions and apparently just cracked from the heat.

I just got through measuring mine and they hold 12 ounces easily, so the 10 ounce rating must refer to how much coffee you can put in them and still ride your bike without spilling. The description says 10 ounce. They keep the coffee warm and have never left a mark on any wood surface that I have placed them on without a coaster. We did manage to break one of the 9 ounce tumblers by dropping it in the sink, but they are glass, so what can you expect.
Highly recommended.The one thing that I can't yet say is whether or not the "improved" design with the silicone seal on the bottom is really an improvement. I was looking for something a little larger but ordered them anyway. My point is that while they are not unbreakable, they are not as fragile as a champagne flute. First of all, this is the 4th Bodum product I have purchased through Amazon and all have arrived in great condition. On to these mugs.
I'd say that there is 10 ounces in the picture of this product.These are great looking and perform well.
I have a friend who has had her's for a year and they have not broken so I don't know if it is my dishwasher configuration or if I'm just clumsy but if you buy these be aware, they will not stand up to every day use. One of them was not sealed properly between the two layers of glass and moisture accumulated between the glass. My husband broke two of these mugs the first day we had them loading them in the dishwasher. I returned these and received replacements. Within a month the remaining mugs broke either in the dishwasher or by placing them down too hard.
As other reviewers have noted, these cups are very fragile. The heat difference is not great because the attractive, funnel shape design exposes a large surface of the liquid to ambient air. I will not purchase these again. These cups are nice enough. They keep coffee warm a little longer than a regular ceramic mug. Within 3 weeks of purchase, one of my two cups developed a crack and had to be discarded.
So far it's been great. They are however made of very fragile glass so they have to be hand washed (carefully) and handled with care. I purchased one of these mugs about a month ago. Works well to keep hot drinks hot, and is very attractive.
